What are Kana?
Kana (仮名) are syllabic scripts used in Japanese writing. There are two types:
- Hiragana (ひらがな) - Used for native Japanese words, grammar particles, and words without kanji
- Katakana (カタカナ) - Used for foreign words, onomatopoeia, and emphasis
Both systems represent the same set of sounds but use different characters.
