ใใ‚‹ vs ใใ‚‹

Don't confuse ็€ใ‚‹ (kiru, to wear) with ๅˆ‡ใ‚‹ (kiru, to cut). Same pronunciation, different kanji!

Removing item

Taking off clothes โ€” Use ใฌใ๏ผˆ่„ฑใ๏ผ‰ for most items:

  • ใใคใ‚’ ใฌใ (take off shoes)
  • ใตใใ‚’ ใฌใ (take off clothes)

For accessories, use ใฏใšใ™๏ผˆๅค–ใ™๏ผ‰ or ใจใ‚‹๏ผˆๅ–ใ‚‹๏ผ‰:

  • ใ‚ใŒใญใ‚’ ใฏใšใ™ (take off glasses)
  • ใจใ‘ใ„ใ‚’ ใฏใšใ™ (take off watch)

ใ™ใ‚‹ is flexible โ€” ใ™ใ‚‹ can replace ใคใ‘ใ‚‹ for many accessories: ใจใ‘ใ„ใ‚’ใ™ใ‚‹ใ€ใƒใ‚ฏใ‚ฟใ‚คใ‚’ใ™ใ‚‹

Special Cases

ใฆใ„ใ‚‹ = state, not action โ€” With clothing verbs, ใฆใ„ใ‚‹ describes a current state ("is wearing") rather than an ongoing action:

  • ใใฆใ„ใ‚‹ = is wearing (right now)
  • ใใพใ™ = will wear / wears (habit)
