To describe light shades, add ใ†ใ™ใ„ (usui - thin/light) before the color.

Rule:

  • For ใ„-adjectives: ใ†ใ™ใ„ + color โ†’ ใ†ใ™ใ„ใ‚ใ‹ (usui aka) โ†’ ใ†ใ™ใ„ใ‚ใ‹ใ„ (usui akai)
  • For noun colors: ใ†ใ™ใ„ + color โ†’ ใ†ใ™ใ„ใฟใฉใ‚Š (usui midori) โ†’ ใ†ใ™ใ„ใฟใฉใ‚Šใฎ (usui midori no)
